Kendall MK VIII radiometer is a self-calibrated cavity radiometer for measuring the total irradiance of 2,000 W/m2 or 20,000 solar constants (defined as 1 kW/m2 on the Earth's surface). The most basic part of the radiometer is the inner blackened cavity, which forms a small blackbody. Thermal resistance connects the cavity with the main body of the radiometer, which transmits the heat generated in the cavity to the main body.
